School Registration and Picture Days
Wednesday July 30, 2014 12:00-4:00 p.m.
Thursday July 31, 2014 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Please mark your calendar for School Registration and Picture Days at Marshall Middle School! We encourage all parents and students to attend. On either date, you will be able to drop off completed registration forms, make payment on your child’s lunch account and student materials fee, pay for yearbooks, and have your child’s school photo taken. Students are also welcome to bring their school supplies to place into their lockers. If you are unable to register on July 30th or 31st, please feel free to mail the information forms prior to the first day of school on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, or contact the school office to make other arrangements.
School photos will be taken during Registration on Wednesday July 30th (12:00-4:00 p.m.) and Thursday July 31st (4:00-8:00 p.m.) Information on a variety of packages available for purchase and a payment envelope are enclosed. Photo retakes will be taken on Friday, September 12th during regular school hours. If you wish to order school photos, bring the completed order form along with payment. Make checks payable to Network Photography. If you choose not to purchase a photo package, we ask that your child still be photographed for class photos and yearbooks.
Students who will be participating in fall, winter, or spring sports will be required to pay a one time $35.00 fee per year (NOT per sport). There is a $120.00 family maximum athletic fee for the district. Your child must have a current physical card on file before they are allowed to practice. Forms will be available in the middle school office at registration.
Lunch payments made during Registration are greatly appreciated. You will find student lunch prices enclosed. Parents can also make payments online at myschoolbucks.com. Families who may be eligible for free or reduced lunch are encouraged to fill out an application form during registration. If your child received free or reduced lunch last year, your family MUST apply again as the application needs to be completed annually.
All 7th and 8th grade students will be issued a Chromebook for use at both school and at home. During registration, parents and students will have the opportunity to review the student/parent expectations, and ask any questions about the purpose and/or use of the Chromebooks in school and at home.
Please arrange for your child to take medications outside of school hours if possible. Physicians can often prescribe medications to be given before or after school. If your child MUST take ANY medication during school hours, you MUST complete and sign the medication authorization (ALL PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION REQUIRES A DOCTOR’S SIGNATURE). Prescription medication must be kept and taken in the middle school office.
7th GRADE ORIENTATION / OPEN HOUSE
On August 27th from 4:00-6:00 p.m., 7th grade students and their parents will have the opportunity to come into school early, meet their teachers, drop off their supplies in their lockers, and review their schedule. Staff will be available to answer any questions about the middle school experience. During this time, Mrs. Blochwitz will be running parent sessions. These sessions are very important for parents to attend so that they gather more information around how middle school is different from elementary school. Middle School for Parents 101: 4:30pm and 5:30pm
THE NEW PE: Preparing students for a lifetime of fitness.
Please join us during the Open House on August 27th to learn about what 21st Century Physical Education looks like. Parents who attend this open session will learn about how PE has changed over the years. We will give examples of the many units we play, standards that are addressed, and how we are preparing all students to be fit for life.
The staff at Marshall Middle School looks forward to a great 2014-2015 school year!
